There are some important skills
that should be learnt to become first aid personnel. It is important to learn
life saving techniques to handle different injuries. ABC is particular first
aid training and ABC stands for “Airway, Breathing and Circulation”. First Aid Training is given to all
interested persons. ABC enables you to clear airway to remove life-threatening
choking. It is important for the first aid attended to determine adequacy of
breathing to rescue breathing problems. Assessment of circulation, pulse check
and chest compression are important activities to be performed by first aid
attendant.
It is important to learn variety of
techniques including deadly bleeding. Variety of first aid techniques is
available but the candidate can learn any technique according to his/her skill
level.
3Bs and 4Bs Training
3Bs is First Aid Training and some organizations teach different
techniques including Breathing, Bleeding and Bones. 4Bs include Breathing, Bleeding,
Brain and Bones. These techniques are important to learn both artificial
respiration and chest compressions to treat someone with no breathing and no
pulse. It is important training for cervical spine injuries to ensure open
airway.
Life Preserving Techniques
Open airway is significant to stay
alive because without clear passageway the air cannot move in through the mouth,
nose, the pharynx and lungs without any obstruction. Conscious people can
easily maintain their airway without problem but it is important to deal with
unconscious people because these are not able to maintain their airway. Brain
of unconscious people is not functioning properly therefore it is the
responsibility of first aid attendant to clear their air passage.
An unconscious people cannot
properly care himself and in order to save his life, it is the responsibility
of first aid attendees to place the patient in recovery position. Wrong
position can lead to the blockage in airway therefore it is specifically taught
to candidate to clear airway to save life. If there is any choking, the fist
aid attendant will not be able to see either the patient is breathing properly
or not. The first aider has to clear airway to promote circulation and blood
flow in patient. These techniques are taught during first aid training.
Promote Recovery
First aider should be able to deal
with different injuries like cuts, grazes and bone fracture. They should have
small adhesive bandage, paper cut, and other necessary first aid items to
provide immediate treatment to stop bleeding and to treat broken bone.
